THE STORY

Mother and son were suspected of drinking from an above ground pool for multiple days. Access was via pool ladder. Upon draining of water for cleaning, ladder was removed and placed next to the pool. Both were suspected of entering pool and neither were able to exit as usual. Mother was discovered in ~1 foot of water trying to escape while young male was dead. Ladder was inserted and before leaving, the mother sniffed the child and then exited. She then turned one last time while running toward the woods to look for the child.
